SECRETS CAVE

[Community of A/V Enthusiasts]

I just received some sample discs (trademarked as "2L") from a company called Lindberg Lyd AS, in Oslo, Norway. One disc is a sampler (see attachment 1 for the front, and attachment 2 for the rear which lists the tracks and the fact that it has 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio at 192 kHz sampling). This is the first time I have heard music at 192 kHz, and my hat flew off when it started playing. I used the OPPO BDP-83, which showed it as DTS-HD Master Audio, and the processor showed it as 192 kHz. I am going to contact these guys and see where I can get the complete discs for some of the sample tracks. Track # 3 for example, is mostly percussion, and you have not heard percussion like this!!! 192 kHz!!! Audio Nirvana is on its way!

Hi John:

It sounds like you need a fairly new Blu-Ray player to playback 24/192, correct? I'm assuming that my first-gen Sony won't do that. If I did upgrade my player, would I also have to upgrade my Yamaha RV-X2700 receiver or would it be capable of passing the signal over hdmi. (It has a pure direct mode, but I'm not sure it that helps or not.)

I just received a set of Blu-ray music discs. All of them are 7.1. It is difficult to listen to stereo after a session of high rez music in total surround format.
