SECRETS CAVE

[Community of A/V Enthusiasts]

Not sure if this a personal post or projection related, but amongst all the things I do normally, I am a volunteer projectionist for Christian Film Festivals of America. During the last week in Sept., we will be doing the first ever Boston Film Festival at the 20 cinema megaplex in Saugus, MA and the 2 theaters that we will be renting out have the new Christie 2K 3-chip DLP projectors. I toured the proj. booth with the manager last night and am excited to be working with these nice digital projectors. The majority of our movies are on DVD and we will be using Oppo 980H upconverting players with the Christies. I'll post my experience after/during the week of the shows...Transformers was playing at the time, and it looked pretty awesome (wicked awesome, if your from New England). The movie was being shown off a 30GB HD so no film whatsoever. I can only imaging what the new 4K projectors are like...

Well, if Netflix goes hard drive on us...it sure won't hurt the US postal service!

There's a bunch of 2K DLPs here in Austin..and two new SXRD 4Ks. The 2Ks are fantastic as long as the source is all digital and filmed all digital, you really can tell the difference.

8K projectors are apparently under development. I don't know if 4K projectors will be economically feasible for the home because the lenses will have to be very high quality, aka, very expensive.
