SECRETS CAVE

My AE700U has 2512 hours on its’ original bulb. I’ve known that the hours have been adding up, and that I was going to be faced with replacing the bulb, and now I’m getting a “Replace Lamp” message on screen. I see various prices for replacement lamps online, anywhere from around $200 for what appears to be a generic “guaranteed to fit” product, to $360 for the Panasonic part. And there are people selling the “bulb only”.

Does anyone know if a generic part is worth the cost savings, or should one stick with the Panasonic part? And is it a worthwhile idea to just replace the bulb in the housing, without buying the whole piece?

Since your 2512 hours were probably over a two year period or so, I would recommend going with the official Panasonic part, including the housing, as the bulb has to be aligned perfectly in the housing or you could get uneven illumination on the screen. $360 for two years worth of movie enjoyment is worth it.
