"I like the sound of Mach II, a friend used to have pair in the late 80's to early 90's then sold them for a pair of bookshelf speakers mounted on the walls. I recall taking a few VHS tapes around to listen on Mach II, The Living Daylights…"

"Blimey it looks a bit like a Realistic Mach II 15" bass driver. What the HF horn at the top JBL? The middle HF horn? I see the L-pad is that the same used on the Mach II speakers?"

Chimney breast to left of room is sound challenge as I have to work off the chimney breast and make the remaining last front of the room appear to be one large wall.

Doable glaze window might as well be paper which needs to be blocked up with x2 layers of MDF at different levels to reduce as much traffic sound as possible.

Acoustical tiles are fitted at different angles on side and rear wall and a few on the ceiling near to the front.

Directional sound across LCR fronts is pleasant not too high on the HF as there very sensitive at 109db LF is good for 102db sensitivity to play loud passages clearly as and when on the mix or as and when, when I’m in a good mood!

Sub bass JBL 4645 decent low end that manages a small amount at 10Hz thou not at high SPL 20Hz a little higher 36 a bit higher and throughout makes floor sometimes vibrate and its concrete based. Seating gets a good feel from seat to seat which I personally check out myself.

Surrounds provide uniform surround just like what you’d come to expect from a cinema. I grew frustrated with dipolar/bipolar surrounds I set out to install monopoles and has been quite successful at making me look extreme left to right when sounds whoosh along (like the U.S.S. Enterprise in the opening of original STAR TREK tv show in DOLBY 5.1)

Centre back provides even uniform coverage and would be great once the rest of the cinema seats are fitted in there should be solid firm rear back from matrix Dolby-EX to discrete dts-ES and TrueHD/dts hd ma 8channel.

Overhead surrounds few films I have noticed that have some anti-phase within the mix that sends the sound information to rear surround circuitry that is now routed to play as overhead surround. Works nicely on Eraser (1996)

Still working on a little bit at time with recently installed acoustical wedge shape foam tiles x30 which has reduced some echo reverb still have the floor to carpet with carpet tiles once the MDF flooring as been placed down for the x6 Irwin cinema rocker seats.

10 feet 2 inches wide
8 feet 8 inches high

Highlight working for UCI as projectionist late 80’s and then for Warner Bros in late 90’s. No longer interested in cinema today all seems like fast food with films coming in and out.

Now and then I take the telescope out to gaze and look back at expanding space and time!

Dolby CP45 re-wiring surrounds

I've recently wired the non-sync or taken two extra wires from the non-sync input and wired them onto one of the two inputs on format 61 AUX left and right so I can switch the decoders Dolby pro-logic to normal surround mode.

I've been thinking of another technique to wiring AUX so I can run the normal surround mode with rear surrounds as it would be in common cinema.

Snag is the outputting of channels that would need a little more thought processing to make sure it runs…

eBay chamber of horrors! JBL G-125

Sigh after spending £75.00 and postal UPS delivery of £10.00 for an almost knackered busted in cone on a JBL G-125.

I mean look at the packing for starters! WTF is these tubes doing inside the box? And yes I have spoken to the company that sold me it. They said like anyone would “send it back and we’ll refund you”.

That’s not the point or principle I’m talking about.

If you look at the why its described in the sale not very photo creative are they. I bet the cone was…

Transformers Dark of the Moon (2011( a sheer DOLBY TrueHD 7.1 delight of listening fun

‎154mins of near sheer transforming Dolby TrueHD8channel Just Bloody Loudness JBL!

This bluray DOLBY TrueHD 7.1 is wicked! While I kept A weighting around an optimum peak 85db C weighting was tipping in on some channels soporifically LFE.1 on some scenes over 105dbc which was plenty loud enough against the LCR fronts that can easily if I wanted them to put some chesty bass/mid at 105dbc but for t......oday I preferred to keep them down bit. The LCRS sub bass extension produced some…

COMA (1978) MONO MIX should get a new DOLBY TrueHD 7.1 (ONLY) in five-screen special

I watch the film mostly each week for a few days as its very well nicely produced mono film mix, dialogue effects and Jerry Goldsmith score is smoothly balanced in the mono film mix, but wouldn’t it be nice to have DOLBY TrueHD 7.1 (ONLY) only with special mix 7.1 using five-screen fronts and ordinary stereo surrounds as most of the action takes place over the screen area and five-screen would work very well in DOLBY TrueHD the best sound format made!

The film could spread…
