Bravo Rodney. Good call. I still use the component out from my TV service (IPTV) to my sling and since the box won't output component and HDMI at the same time it goes as component from sling to the projector while all the other are switched HDMI...

The Denon AVR-790, at $499, has what you want. It's a new model. http://www.usa.denon.com/ProductDetails/AVReceivers.asp

Agree with Kieran, never pay retail for ANYTHING! Especially now that DTS-MA, DD+, DD-HD are all almost two years old and Audyssey MultiEQ has trickled down to the near-entry level receivers. I suggest you look on craigslist, ebay, audiogon and co...

Ha, after I DIY'd a few things my wife stopped griping about how much everything costs...frankly, I'm not sure how I should take that! : )

I agree that $500 is the limit, but as Chris pointed out, not $500 MSRP. There are lots of deals to be had for more expensive (MSRP) receivers at around the $500 price point, you just have to either search around or wait, or both. I also agree th...

I just bought myself a refurbished Onkyo TX-SR706 receiver for under $500 (it was on sale, so it might take a bit of looking to find one for that price, but AC4L.com has it for $530 right now), and you can also get a refurbished Marantz 5003 for t...

Seems like $500 is a good benchmark these days. I think the sub $500 level may be too limiting in features / quality. Looking for a reco for a family member for a good $500 reciever. 7.1 nice but not essential need 5.1 though. HDMI obviously a m...

The trick with SIs Black Diamond is that you have to have a laser beam of a pj to really make it shine...that .8 seems more like .5 in real viewing. I saw it with a Sony Pearl and it wasn't so impressive...the screen with a JVC RS20 was much bette...

That's funny I did a similar thing and went to see Star Trek a month back. First movie in a theatre for us since....?? 4 years at least. I liked the picture (better than my 4 yr old 720p projector) but I found the sound to be the annoying factor....

I've used blackout cloth (the white side) and now a Carada screen. They're about equally effective, in my opinion. I think you'd be hard pressed to pick one as obviously better than the other. The benefit of a manufactured screen is the build. Onc...

hello happy to see a audiophile. sir just suggest me which projector would be suitable for a 20 x 15 feet room.

About me... and my gear

HT and Equip List
• Primary HT room is a dedicated 21' x 13' room with space for 3 rows of seats
• 7.2 sound via a set of Kef Q series speakers with an SVS NSD/2 sub
• A 117" “DIY” 16:9 fixed screen
• Panasonic AE-900 Projector shelf mounted at the rear of the room
• Motorola IPTV HD PVR
• Several DVD players (Oppo 971H gets the most use)
• Oppo BDP-83 Bluray
• Speaker cable is 10ga Belden 5T00UP or DIY 10ga equivalent braided cat 6
• Interconnects vary, mostly Blue Jeans (longer runs / more quality sensitive connections) or Monoprice (everything else)
• Xbox360 with HD-DVD drive
• Slingbox
• Customized Home Theatre PC / Media Centre with a secondary 19” LCD for those IMDB arguments during movie showings, hooked into an OTA TV antenna
• AVC UPS
• Yamaha RX-V1400 Receiver (it's getting old…),
• HDMI 4x1 switch, Harmony remote, IR repeater system etc. etc.

Secondary setup in the living room more for background music hooked as zone 2 from the primary with an old Sony 2 channel receiver and odds and ends speakers.

Tertiary System is in the kitchen with another PC and Logitech speakers serving as music server for the kitchen and living rooms

Music & Movie interests
Music: a fairly wide gamut. Various flavours of "Classical" - Late Baroque,
Classical and Romantic. Instrumental Jazz and big band, Classic and
Modern Rock, Trance/Techno dance music.
Movies: Good movies or really really bad ones. Tending to action/adventure, sci-fi, humor, and mainstream drama.

Personal: Education, Day job, hobbies
Hobbies: obviously from the headshot - Scuba diving (that was mainly pre-kids), Cycling, Rowing, Cooking, and of course HT!

I’ve worked for more than a decade in the telecommunications industry in fields like Broadband & Internet, Cellular and Wireless and traditional Wireline and in roles from technical development to product dev/management to finance to marketing.

MY HT/AV dream would be to find a way to truly integrate all my media and sources into a truly converged media experience that is actually EASY enough for the wife and kids to use. Haven't found it yet but I'll keep looking.
