These days, most of my movie watching is done either outdoors, on enormous screens with monster projectors, or on a production-grade 24" Samsung monitor, driven by a computer. This latter arrangement supports Netflix streaming, Blu-Ray or HD-DVD. Audio is through KRK Rokit 8 self-powered studio monitors, driven by an M-Audio FW 410 DAC/preamp, fed through FireWire.
Tell us about your Listening Room
The main listening room has asymettrical ceilings, oriental rugs on the floor, and is roughly 16 x 24. There is plenty of length to shape the speaker voicing, as well as develop a very wide and deep soundstage, even with entry-level equipment.
Tell us about your equipment
The equipment list varies considerably, but some of the constants are Audioquest solid silver cables, Wireworld power cords, Usher berylium-tweeter speakers (they do it for me), and the Denon 5910 (monster) transport. Amplifiers range from the celestial tube sound of Prima Luna, to monoblocks and multichannel amps. It's amazing how well even relatively inexpensive equipment sounds in a good room.
